manual handling

Manual Handling

In excess of 30% of all workplace injuries reported to the HSE each year are directly attributable to manual handling. These injuries are caused by excessive, lifting, carrying, pulling, pushing or holding of loads.

Manual handling induced injuries mostly affect the back, but can also cause severe problems to the limbs, muscles, tendons and the heart and because these injuries tend to take longer to heal they have a more profound effect on the longer-term health of the injured party.

The Challenge Training ½ Day Manual Handling Course caters for any environment where the handling of objects is undertaken. Course content includes:

How to risk assess and move objects safely, so that handling    risks are reduced to the lowest level.

The law relating to Manual Handling, associated roles and    responsibilities and relevant health and safety information.

Spinal anatomy, relevant structure and function.

Causes of back pain and other handling related injuries.

Risk assessment.

Safer lifting techniques and team handling
